Discover how and why Somerleyton Meadow owners - Stuart & Amanda - who were both born and lived in London for 50 years decided to make the move to the Norfolk Broads to start a Holiday business.
East is East
We both grew up in the grit and grime of London's East End. Stuart worked as a creative in Advertising & Marketing while Amanda spent her early career in the Financial sector as a company secretary before giving up work to start a family. We had two children - Harrison & Mia - both now at University. Harrison is in his last year of studying to be a Dentist at Kings College in London, while Mia is at Leeds - studying Speech & Language therapy. So after 50 years in the Big Smoke we decided we didn't want to be here anymore.
The sticks calling
We had a great time living, working and raising a family in London - but at this stage in our lives - something felt as if it was missing. We needed space...physically and mentally.
We always felt connected to Norfolk & Suffolk - perhaps it has something to do with our connection to Norfolk's favourite son - Lord Nelson! ( see other post )
So we started to hunt for properties that had the potential to offer holiday accommodation. We didn't realise what a long and stressful search this would turn out to be. However, after over a year of searching we stumbled across a beautiful Georgian property with land near Somerleyton.
So here we are...
Somerleyton Meadows - A boutique B&B retreat in the heart of the Norfolk Broads and an ideal base to explore both The Broads and The Suffolk Heritage Coast.
